Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

Chelsea & Westminster Hospital is a central London teaching hospital, situated on Fulham Road in the affluent Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Its location provides easy transport routes via tube, bus, Overground, bicycle and car. Fulham Road boasts a number of restaurants, bars and pubs for socialising after working hours.

The Orthopaedic department at Chelsea performs both trauma and elective procedures in the paediatric and adult population. All subspecialties are included apart from Spines (adult and paediatric), Pelvic and tumour surgery. At full capacity there are 12 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 8 Registrars, 7 SHOs and 3 FY1s

Consultants

The subspecialty rotations are currently as follows.

Hips – 1 trainee

Mr Warwick Radford / Mr Emeka Oragui

Trainees will be involved in subspecialist hip trauma, primary hip arthroplasty and to a lesser extent revision hip arthroplasty.

Knees – 2 trainees

Mr Charles Gibbons / Mr Luke Jones

Mr Simon Ball / Mr Simon Thompson

Trainees will be involved in knee trauma, soft tissue knee procedures, primary knee arthroplasty and to a lesser extent revision knee arthroplasty.

Foot & Ankle – 1 trainee

Mr Andrew Roche / Mr Tim Sinnett

Trainees will be involved in foot and ankle trauma as well as all aspects of elective foot and ankle surgery.

Shoulder & Elbow – 1 trainee

Mr Andrew Sankey / Mr Rupen Dattani

Trainees will be involved with shoulder and elbow trauma including arthroplasty for trauma, and all aspects of elective shoulder and elbow surgery.

Paediatric Orthopaedics – 1 trainee

Mr Stuart Evans / Ms Alison Hulme / Mr Ng Man Sun / Ms Karen Shepherd (locum)

Trainees will be exclusively involved with Paediatric trauma and all aspects of elective surgery. Please note that this trainee will not have any general trauma lists during this rotation.

Hands – 1 trainee

The Hand Management Unit is a part of the Plastic surgery department.

Trainees will be exclusively involved with Hand trauma and all aspects of elective hand surgery. Though the hand rotation is a part of plastics, the trainee will be on the on call rota for Orthopaedics. Please note that this trainee will not have any general trauma lists during this rotation.
